A barbet and a window of opportunity

They say a window of opportunity seldom presents itself twice. Yet this juvenile White Cheeked Barbet (Megalaima viridis) near the Bannerghatta National Park, Bangalore was sitting on one for a while at the end of the nesting season, waiting for an opportunity to fly. The time was the second week of August and the previous day I had noticed an adult repeatedly visiting the the dead tree during the course of the day, with what appeared to be food. The second day I got this photograph early in the morning. The third day there was no bird at the window, nor did the adult Barbet visit as it did the previous two days.

Which makes me wonder if the opportunity depends on which side of the window one is looking from.
