Sankey by twilight

It’s as urban a lake as you can get in Bangalore but Sankey Tank in the precincts of Malleshwaram is crawling with evening walkers even at twilight. Above the shouts of children at play, other signs of life stir.

A flock of domestic ducks paddles a few laps while a pond heron tries to get some work done before turning in for the night.

The great rain trees stretch their maze of tentacles to grab what’s left of the darkening sky, then peer sullenly into the water at their own limpid images.

  1. Yeah, I like that one, too. 🙂
I kinda fiddled with the title of this post for sometime… wanted to use "starlight" instead of "twilight" (inspired by the lights on the road in the pic you like). And Brubeck's "Stella by Starlight" was looping in my head. And then I remembered John Updike's short story "Elsie By Starlight" (here: http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2004/07/05/040705fi_fiction) and decided I'd stick to twilight. 😀
